I am a filmmaker and a journalist specialising in international feature documentaries on social justice and human rights issues. I am based in Utrecht. My work has been broadcast on channels such as Discovery Channel, Al Jazeera, Channel 4 UK, BBC and KRO Brandpunt. I am looking for somebody who shares my passion for the medium of documentary film and is looking for their first experience in the industry of independent filmmaking to work with me on a feature documentary set in Latin America.

The tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Translating interviews & dialogue
  • Researching and fact checking
  • Looking for archive footage
  • Logging and Transcribing Footage

Ideally you have a basic knowledge of how to edit in Adobe Premiere Pro but this is not required.

At the outset you’ll be transcribing and translating. But I assure you the material is interesting. I will be relying on your editorial judgment to make note of the most relevant and interesting content of the footage shot so far. At a later stage more research will be involved (in Spanish and in English).

Start date: ASAP

End Date: To be discussed

Are you fluent in both English and Spanish, do you have a background or interest in investigative journalism/Latin America/Conflict/Translation/Research, are you pro-active, does my previous work interest you and do you like the idea of helping out on my new film? Then please send  a short email outlining your motivation to l.g.vanderhorst@gmail.com .

I look forward to hearing from you!
